Detroit, MI - There is just something terribly wrong with this picture.
Setting: Wayne County's Chandler Park Family Aquatic Park.
Players: Park Security, Mother & 3 year-old daughter, and Police.
Scene: 3-year-old girl playing in water topless.
Apart from having a park name that is way too long and awkward, I think the security guards here have the wrong point of view on who they are securing. The guards got all out of sorts because the little girl was swimming without a bikini top which mom had forgotten and left at home. Kresnak writes that the guards told the mother a number of times that,
"Topless toddlers apparently can spark lust in adults who are sexually attracted to children...."To which the mother is quoted as replying,
"If there are pedophiles in your park, please harass them and leave my daughter and me alone."The guards threatened to call the police and mom said please do. An officer arrived and basically told the security folk that there was nothing wrong here. The mother's dead right you know. Just who are the security guards there to protect? Of course the real problem here is that the law has slapped too many pedophiles on the wrist and sent them on their way.
