The world must be upside down - Here is a collection of criminal oddities that will make you scratch your head and wonder, 'Just who is running the criminal system?'
Ananova&trade alerts us to the first two criminal imbalances:
A US man who was jailed in 1970 for his first and only criminal conviction - stealing a television - says he hopes to be released in December.
Junior Allen, 63, says he has applied again to the North Carolina Parole Commission for release following 25 straight rejections....
...Meanwhile, the same commission has released Howard Washington on parole in January after 10 years in prison for murder.
The commission says the television thief hasn't been a model inmate.
And now David Crossland reports for Reuters on Yahoo!® News:
A German cannibal was convicted of manslaughter but not murder Friday for killing and eating a man who had asked to die, and he was sentenced to eight and a half years in jail.
The court rejected the prosecution's plea for a murder conviction and life sentence because the victim had instructed Armin Meiwes, 42, to kill him. The act of sexual fetishism, which he recorded on video tape, has sparked shock and fascination around the world.
Someone stop the world, I'd like to get off.
