Common Sense Prevails - The online edition of The New York Post has a great article on an Independent Documentary Film by a man that asked himself the question of fast food, "How nutritious is it really?"
So he set out to find out and he came out thirty days later twenty-five pounds heavier and incredibly sick. He filmed his progression from healthy person to dead-man-walking.
Megan Lehmann in her article for The New York Post says that Morgan Spurlock made himself a lab rat when he decided to subsist on nothing but McDonald's food for thirty days.
Lehmann writes:
Within a few days of beginning his drive-through diet, Spurlock, 33, was vomiting out the window of his car, and doctors who examined him were shocked at how rapidly Spurlock's entire body deteriorated.
Spurlock lined up three doctors to keep an eye on his progress over the thirty day period. Some of the findings showed his liver had become toxic and his cholesterol went from 165 to 230.
Now that's scary. I think I will work harder at fixing myself healthy soups from scratch, eating more vegetables, and biking more often (Lord knows I need it).
Oh, Spurlock's movie is titled, "Super Size Me." LOL!
