Well, I can't let today pass without posting something. I just wouldn't feel right. It's been a very busy day of going where the Lord sends me and once again the normal routine was shook up because of it. I'm plain tuckered out, but that's a good feeling. You know what I mean?
The day ended wonderfully at church, like it usually does on Thursday. We always meet for prayer on Thursday and then a group of us heads out to IHOP for dinner - or breakfast depending on what you feel like (tonight I felt like bacon & cheddar stuffed crepes).
Tonight, however, was different. No prayer meeting. Instead, we had a four wonderful guests. They are just some the nicest people you will ever meet and they have such a tender love for the Lord. Two were the pastor and one of his daughters from our sister church across the bay and the other two were a pastor and his wife, also from across the bay but from a different denomination. The church of the pastor and wife duo has established a mission in Mexico over the last five or so years and for the last couple of years our sister church has had members going with them on the mission trip.
They were here to show a video of the mission trip that they had organized last year to two mountains in Mexico. Seven people in our church have committed themselves to going on a mission trip this year and following the Lord's leading, they have selected to go with this mission.
It was very inspiring to see the work that Christ has done through these believers in an area that five years ago didn't have roads to the villages which meant that they had to hike through forests to reach the villagers. They've really been able to meet a lot of physical and spiritual needs. The villages on the two mountains that they will be visiting don't have running water or electricity, which, as I sit in front of this dual monitor set up, becomes a strange and alien realization.
I think everyone in the church tonight was excited by the trip and the stepping out in faith that our small church was making in sending out seven of our own. After the video we had a ton of questions and comments and the group of us that hit IHOP continued to talk and laugh with a bubbling excitement for the coming trip.
Lord God, please go before us and prepare us as a church for this commitment and hold fast those that are going out on the road with the Love of Your Son Christ Jesus in their hearts for those You are preparing. Amen.
Gee, I hope this rambling post makes some kind of sense. I really am tired. Better throw it through a spell checker at least.
Good night - or morning depending on which half of this beautiful blue spinning marble you're on. Tomorrow promises to be rather cramped again so I need to find my pillow with my head.
