Diversity Unless You're a Christian - The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (big surprise here) has upheld Hewlett-Packard Co.'s firing of a Christian man, Richard Peterson, because of his reaction to the company's diversity program by posting Scripture at his desk.
What bothered him about the diversity program? Well, he didn't agree with the company's stance on the sin of homosexuality. In fact, I guess you could say he found it offensive.
HP said Peterson was fired for insubordination after refusing to remove the quotes when managers determined they could be viewed as offensive.
Which is a bit interesting really. Since he is fired for his reaction to being offended by something the company posted. But he's a Christian and his beliefs don't count for much I guess.
Not that he wasn't without fault either. It seems he admits that he "intended" one of the scriptures "to be hurtful." At least that is what the wire services are saying. If it is true then he was wrong in that regard. Scripture is meant for the redemption of those outside of God's will and the strengthening of those in His will. But none outside of Christ are perfect in this world and it's a good thing Christ is there to forgive us when we fail.
The Great Separation continues.
