Good afternoon,
I hope the weekend is turning out to be a time of renewal from last week's demands from you.
Here's today's sermon devotional from the church bulletin where I attend church.
In Isaiah 6 we read of the encounter that Isaiah had with God. The reality of God had a tremendous impact on Isaiah's attitude about himself and his work.
Isaiah's first sight of God revealed Isaiah to himself. Isaiah saw all of his imperfections, his sin, his lack of sincerely following the God of the universe. Isaiah saw just how far he was from being near to God and in a true relationship with Him. Seeing what God saw about him, Isaiah became fearful. But meeting God and knowing Him changed Isaiah.
Isaiah saw God high and lifted up. Isaiah saw the power of God, His Holiness and righteousness. Isaiah saw the magnificence of the Creator of the world. Isaiah saw God as the ruler of the universe, He was the King of kings and the Judge of the world. Isaiah saw the Heavenly Father as able and willing to make him adequate to face any task he was called upon to do.
Isaiah was changed by the encounter he had with the Living God. He became bold, stood up and said to God, "Send me with Your message to Your people". Isaiah's sin was removed by the encounter with God and he saw God moving through him.
When we look in the face of God it changes us too. The reality of God transforms those who believe.
