Mark Your Calender for March 5 - Janet Chismar has an article on Crosswalk.com about an upcoming world wide event titled Shockwave by the Christian organization named Underground.
The event is a day of prayer on March 5 when participants, mostly youth and young adults, will lift before God the plight of the persecuted Church across the globe.
Chismar begins:
“It’s a real buzz to think that heaps of other people will also be joining with us in prayer,” says Jenni from Sydney, Australia. “I can't help but think how happy God will be when he sees his global church come together in unity with one purpose in mind.”
Jenni is just one of the millions of young people from different countries and ethnic backgrounds who will join together in prayer on Friday, March 5 on behalf of persecuted Christians. Sponsored by Underground, the youth outreach of Open Doors with Brother Andrew, Shockwave is a global 24-hour youth prayer event that will take place in chat rooms and at prayer meetings throughout the world. It will start in New Zealand and work its way across the time zones, literally covering the globe in prayer for the estimated 200 million members of the Persecuted Church.
To which I add the following scripture:
- Psalms 34:17 - The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
- Psalms 69:33 - For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
- Proverbs 15:29 - The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.
I'm marking my calender, I hope you are too.
Go to the Shockwave website for more information on how you can promote the event in your church, youth group, or college. You can also get more info from the above article by Chismar or on the Underground website.
