They hate you because of me - Officials in Kilipal, India, are using the Orissa Freedom of Religion Act to arrest a pastor and his associate pastor with the charge of "conversion by inducement."
Pastor Subas Samal and associate pastor Dhanishwar Kandi are currently in police custody after several people made the charge to the police. Compass Direct reports on one of the people that made the charge:
Das, an ice-cream vendor, took this action because his daughter had shown a strong interest in the Christian faith.
The police booked the accused Christians under Section 4 of the OFRA and Sections 294, 506, and 36 of the IPC.
Compass Direct notes that this pastor is one of the nine Christians who were forcibly tonsured by Hindu villagers. I posted about this back in February: A Round Up of Christian Persecution around the Globe."
Six villagers were arrested for that act. But Compass Direct reports that one of the Hindus accusing the Christians are now claiming:
...that the Christians had forcibly converted 25 Dalit villagers over a period of 10 years, taking advantage of their illiteracy and poverty by luring them with financial enticement.
He also claimed the pastor and eight local Christian women had tonsured themselves on February 10 to malign the Hindu community.
The Great Separation continues.
