Excuse me, but aren't you forgetting.... - Do you know this person pictured to the right?
Should you?
Well, what about this person to the left? Do you recognize her?
Hmmm... Kind of, right?
Now, hold on. Just think about it. It will come to you...
Here's a clue. Do you recognize this guy?

Aw, yeah. Sure, that's Scott Peterson. And the media is all over him like maggots on road kill.
And he just got convicted for the brutal murder of his wife, Stacy (to the left above) and child.
But who's the attractive woman above to the right?
Well, as was pointed out to me over at Boar's Head Tavern, that's April Greer. Or rather, that was April Greer who at eight months pregnant was last seen alive on February 1, 2003.
April was found in a barrel that washed in a pond near Mebane North Carolina in April of 2003, sometime after her boyfriend finished her off with, according Scott at Boar's Head Tavern, an axe.
Her boyfriend was Jerry Lynn Stuart, Jr.
Scott at Boar's Head, wonders about how the national media is all over the Scott Peterson trial and yet there hasn't been nary a peep over the trial of Jerry Stuart, Jr.
Scott writes of the two cases:
The only real difference I've seen between the Petersen events and April Greer is that the Petersens [sic] were rich. They were an attractive family that played well on TV.
Rich?
Maybe.
Perhaps the big media is all over this because they think deep down that money can get you out of anything in the courts.
But I don't think that's the full reason or even a large percentage. Having thought about it over dinner, and after chewing on my cynical nature in wondering if it might not have to do with Blue State or Red State, I think it may be more inline of Scott's second statement. The Peterson family represents the dream American family. Both were attractive, married, and financially secure people with a child on the way.
In the case of April and Jerry, April was 18 and certainly attractive while Jerry was 27 and I don't know how attractive because I couldn't find a photo. They weren't married and Scott at Boar's Head implies that they weren't wealthy, so the argument might be made that they weren't the all American dream couple.
Does this lessen the loss of April and her child when compared to Laci and her child? Absolutely not. Thankfully, under the law and in God's sight they are equal.
But Scott Peterson and Jerry Stuart in the eyes of the media aren't equal. My guess is that in the sight of the national media Jerry just wasn't as marketable and intriguing.
Of course the really unfortunate thing here is that the focus isn't the victims, it's the monsters.
What do you think?
Also, do you think Peterson will win an appeal and have to be retried?
