Is society of the verge of self destruction? - Yesterday, LifeNews.com reported that the 2nd District Court of Appeals here in my home state of Florida, denied Terri Schiavo's parents's motion that removing her feeding tube and allowing her to stave to death would violate her religious beliefs.
I have a question. What makes Terri Schiavo different from the other people who cannot feed themselves and thus require feeding tubes?
Is it because she cannot communicate?
I have a friend who's grandmother over a year ago had radiation treatment for cancer in her jaw. Her tongue has been swollen since and she cannot feed herself because of this problem. She has a feeding tube.
Is she really any different than Terri Schiavo?
Sure, this other woman can take care of many of her needs unlike Terri, but does the fact that Terri can't, mean that some person has the right to choose her death?
Before answering, I suggest you read, "Euthanasia: Not Our Burden to Bear," at Wittenberg Gate.
