- Read through the questions of this Bible study then read chapter 5 of John and write down any questions and insights that come to you.
- Why is the recording of the healing of the invalid important enough for God to include it in the this Gospel account?
- Why do you think that Jesus singled this invalid out among all those present at the well waiting for a healing?
- Considering the dialogue and actions of the invalid throughout this chapter, what is his attitude toward those with him at the well, the Jews chastising him for carrying his mat on the Sabbath, and Christ?
- Why was it that the Jews "persecuted" and desired to "kill" Christ? Verses 16, 18.
- How would you characterize the relationship between Christ and God the Father? Verse 17-37.
- What events is Christ foreshadowing in verses 20-29?
- Why has the Father entrusted Christ to judge who gains eternal life and who does not? Verse 22, 23.
- What is Christ saying in verses 25-29?
- List those things that Christ tells us testify to who He is. Verses 30-47.
- How do we receive eternal life?
