Have you heard? - What do you think?
The upper echelon of the Church has apparently been asleep and just stirred to an adrenalin wakefulness over the forth coming movie The Da Vinci Code.
And now there is a furor of condemnation for the movie and book splashing across the news headlines.
Drudge points to this headline: Greek Orthodox church slams Da Vinci Code.
A quick news search finds these headlines too:
Indian Catholics call off effigy burning as Da Vinci Code protest falters.
Opus Dei, US religious group hit back at 'Da Vinci Code'.
Senior Philippines official wants Da Vinci Code movie ban.
Granted I'm not claiming that Christians have nothing to be concerned about when it comes to this blasphemous tripe, but aren't some of us a bit slow on the uptake here? Indeed, Christians need to be aware of the lie this book is based upon and how it will affect and does effect the lives of people world wide.
Is it now possible that because so many of you supposed Church leaders have waited so long to wake up to this silly story that you are now giving it millions of dollars in free publicity with your rants and threats?
It's just a suggestion, but stay clear of the press and speak to your flock only with words of wisdom. That, I think, you will find far more beneficial and effective.
Something else to ponder: Is such a work just a sign of the age in which we live and the return of the True and Righteous King of Heaven, Jesus Christ?
And if the answer is yes, why are you panicking?
Carolyn McCulley of Solo Femininity has a link to message by Dr. Albert Mohler at her church on this movie that, dare I say, readers here might find useful in speaking with others on a one on one basis with fellow Christians and non-Christians.
