Heard today on Fox News that it was a 50 caliber weapon the kid used. That's packing some heat.
It occurs to me that for a boar to get this big in nature it would take one of two things. One, someone was raising it to be this large. Or two, the natural predators to hogs, whatever they be, are in short supply.

Meet Monster Pig. An 11-year-old Alabama boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9-feet-4 from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. Think hams as big as car tires.
They grow them big up north. That thing looks as big as a rhino!
