For your reading pleasure... (a book review by Peggy Paxton) - Rooms by James Rubart published by B&H Fiction is the story of a young software tycoon, Micah Taylor, from Seattle. Micah receives a letter from his dead Uncle. He never knew his uncle yet this letter had been written 25 years before and in it his Uncle Archie informs him that he has been left a stunning, brand new house at Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast.

Micah long ago left his faith behind him as well as hurts, pain, and wounds from his growing up years. This house and two people, Rick and Sarah, cause Micah to face his past and consider his God as he chooses his path.

Reading this book was like watching Twilight Zone. Bizarre things begin happening because of this house. Rooms appear that weren't there before, periods of his life disappear, and voices talk to him as Micah, step by step, tries to make choices with which this house seems to confront him. He recognizes that Rick is somehow tied into all that is happening to him. Loving both Julie and Sarah pulls at him as does the world with his life in Seattle vs. his life in Cannon Beach.

While this story line was a little more off the wall than my tastes normally run I found the writing to be attention grabbing. And the approach to some spiritual delimas that often must be faced in life and choices, such as dieing to self, that have to be made, was interesting.
