The following is a letter given to me from my mother, a pastor's wife:
We don't have to dig for examples of God's presence during the 9/11 events and the days and weeks that followed. We don't have to dig for those examples because they surfaced in so many ways during those days and the years since.
Now if we have leaders who are seeking ways to bury God's hand in our national life then we Christians must quietly stand up and take ourselves to our houses of worship this Sunday. We must worship the God who has preserved us and has given us hope. We must pray for forgiveness, for our leaders, for blessing and protection, for courage, and integrity and guidance.
Pastors - it is up to you to lead you congregations, to direct their thoughts and actions to the only hope we have as a people - to be in Christ living as "One Nation Under God."
We don't need TV cameras or political statements to be heard. We first need to physically create a huge wave of movement toward our churches on 9/11 and be found in humble prayer before our God.
II Chronicles 7:14
"if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."
