Representative Conyers Says It's Pointless to Read the Health Care Bill.

Say what!!? - You must be joking with me. A US House of Representative member says there's no point in reading the Health Care bill because it is too long and you will need two lawyers to interpret it?

Good grief. This is taxation without representation. What's more it's asinine.

If a bill is so large and so convoluted that someone with a highschool education can't understand it then it shouldn't be passed.

Sin of Homosexuality Advocates Lobby Soap Operas for "Gay" Characters.

Sin reins but for a short time - On Faith Telegraph I found this sad article about a British soap opera in which a character, a 16 year old girl, is lesbian Christian (two incompatible lifestyles). The character is likely going to have a "relationship" (nice euphemistic word) with one of the girls in her Bible study group.

Apparently the show show producers and writers are trying to make the soap opera more "real" in relation to what life is actually like in Britain.

If that is the case in Britain then the country is further down the path of destruction than I thought.

It would appear though, that lobby groups are just as much a factor in England as the vocal yet small percentage of sin of homosexuality advocates are here.

Coronation Street 'Christian' to begin lesbian relationship

Last year it emerged that mainstream soaps were being lobbied by groups to present their issues in storylines.

Stonewall, the homosexual lobby group, told The Guardian newspaper it had managed to get a character from Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks to wear a homosexual campaign T-shirt.

How such things grieve the heart of God the Father. People need to know that there is victory for even those trapped in the sin of homosexuality. The chains that bind them can be broken by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Video: Rape has become the Norm in Eastern Congo.

Anger...Sadness...Pain - I came across this in a search on Christian persecution. Hat tip goes to the Huffington Post; Congo: Rape as a Weapon of War.

War has raged through the Democratic Republic of Congo for more than a decade -- it has been called the deadliest conflict since World War II.

The United Nations estimates that 200,000 women and girls have been raped in that time, some victims as young as three years old.

It bruises my heart.

A newly licensed vaccine for several illnesses contains tissue from aborted babies.

Pentacel is a combination vaccine for five diseases approved by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices. The vaccine is to be added to the immunization schedule for children.

If I had children, I would certainly be making sure that they did not get vaccinated with this drug.

Planned Parenthood Bringing Immoraility and Death to a Mall near You.

The Business of Murder - My dad sent me a link to a post by Albert Mohler who has a bit of shocking news to me about Planned Parenthood's "redefining" of itself.

The company which receives large sums of our tax dollars for the purpose of murdering children is looking at expanding into malls.

Planned Parenthood may be legally defined as a nonprofit organization, but it is flush with money. The organization took in over $1 billion last year, and reported $112 million in "excess of revenue over expenses." The group also received $70 million in federal funds -- your tax dollars at work.

Make no mistake -- Planned Parenthood has an agenda, even as it did when founded by Margaret Sanger and other radicals in the early 20th century. The organization receives hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue from killing unborn babies. It wants to extend its reach into the population.

It's an interesting article that I suggest you read. One thing that surprised me was how much competition there is in the abortion business and how Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics compete in the American marketplace.

I felt sick when I saw that the cost for death was $425.00.

It makes my spirit ache.

Video Game Mayhem, Violence, and Barbarism.

Garbage in, Garbage puked out over all society. - The video game industry and those excited about huge profits in the finance industry are all agog over the latest installment of "Grand Theft Auto IV".

Having once worked in the retail side of the video game industry for more years then I care to remember, I have long since proclaimed the dangers and depths of depravity that the industry is delving into which are impacting our society.

Matthew Cullinan Hoffman has a notable commentary over at LifeSiteNews.com that is worth reading, particularly if your a parent with video game playing kids.

The debut of "Grand Theft Auto IV", a highly-realistic video game in which players "win" by committing violent criminal acts, is notable for several reasons, but most importantly because of what it says about a society that is engaged in an orgy of self-destruction, and cannot even recognize what is happening.

The Grand Theft Auto series makes the player into a criminal who wins points by stealing cars, assassinating rivals, killing police, running over pedestrians, and even murdering a prostitute with a baseball bat rather than paying her. It is, in short, a game that glorifies brutal criminality and enables players to fantasize their participation in mind-numbing barbarism.

Hoffman notes how one video game player waiting in line to get a copy reacted to the big release day of the game. The gamer stabbed a passer-by. You can read about that episode on the Telegraph.

Not to be out done by Londoners, I suppose, another punk in San Diego attacked store clerks on the big release day of the game. Mercury News has that story.

What does the Scripture offer as advice when it comes to our entertainment choices? Here's a good verse worth looking into:

“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” (Php 4:8 NIV)

A Spirit of Violence Permeates the Land.

Repent! - By now only those who are disconnected from all forms of media, aka, those hermits living in a cave, have yet to hear about the cheerleaders who spent thirty minutes gang banging a fellow student. Bad enough as kidnapping and abusing a person is, it is even more horrifying to me that they would post the video to the Internet with the obvious intent of glorifying the deed.

What kind of human beings are these girls? And what do they think of the rest of humanity that they would display their sin proudly to the rest of the world?

But this is not an isolated incident. We hear more and more reports along these lines as this item that I just spied today: 'Fight Club' Busted at Local High School.

Or there's this item of a young mother's terribly violent murder of her six year old daughter: Mom stabbed girl because of demon.

Did you happen to see the terrible news about the two-year-old girl beat to death with a video game controller by her mother's boyfriend?

Looking at these stories, music and movies, and the youth that I deal with in the ministries at my church it has become clear to me that there is a spirit of violence that is soaked into the hearts and minds of men and women in our land.

I'm reminded of this Scripture.

“Say to the people of the land: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: They will eat their food in anxiety and drink their water in despair, for their land will be stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who live there.” (Eze 12:19 NIV)

From what does this attitude, this spirit, come?

Some will say, and perhaps with some validity that it is economic pressures, though the teenagers I'm sure are not experiencing such pressures. Some may say one of their problems is excess.

Others might say it is a reaction to the stress of a world at war, and that too may have some truth, but the reality is that war with terrorism across the ocean does not effect the daily lives of people here in America.

I believe that one of the primary reasons for this violence is that society has been told that life is an accident, via the mantra of evolution. Add to that the promotion of abortion and that the life within a woman's womb is said to be mere tissue until it escapes into the air and I find a nation of people unconcerned about life, about people, and about themselves.

In essence man has said there is no God, and our children, unknowing to their condition, are reacting in violence to the hole in their spirit that aches to be filled with the love of God, Jesus Christ.

As a nation and as individuals we must repent of the violence in our lives and seek the forgiveness of Jesus or I fear our land is in for much darker times.

Suicide Cult in South Wales?

Disheartening - I just saw this news item headlined on Drudge.

There's been an epidemic of suicide hangings in Bridgend, South Wales.

Here's ThisIsLondon's headline: Number of young people found hanged in 'suicide cult town' rises to 13.

Most appear to be connected to each other through links such as online social networks. All apparently have hung themselves.

"I am very concerned," he said [coroner Philip Walters]. "It is very important that we get to grips with the situation.

Victim: Natasha Randall was found hanged last week. At least 12 others youngsters from Bridgend have died in the same way within the past year

"There are 12 young men and one young woman involved and all were found hanged in the area in the last year."

It's terribly sad. From what I can read these young people had a lot to live for. It's obvious that friends and family who loved them are distraught and confused as to why they would do such a thing.

It's just mind blowing.

When I see things like this becoming more and more frequent I can't help but wonder if it isn't a sign that the days are growing shorter till the Second Coming of Christ.

Abortions in US at lowest level since 1976: report.

In 2005, the US abortion rate was 19.4 abortions for every 1,000 women between the ages of 15 and 44, according to figures compiled from surveying abortion providers. The 2005 figure represented an eight percent drop from the number of abortions in 2000.
