They will know we are Christians.... - I received an eMail from my denominational missions headquarters. It was a missions update with a prayer request for a brother in Christ and his family.
Here it is:
Pastor Prabhu Manuel, the President of the Fellowship of Blessed Hope Churches and pastor of the Pallavaram church has brought this prayer request.
"Five days ago one of his church members was hit by a lorry. Surgery was done for abdominal injuries. He has been in a coma ever since. One of his legs and hips are broken but no surgery has been done on these injuries. The doctors say if he wakes up they will consider what to do next.
His name is Titus Kumar, age 29. His wife is 26 and they have three daughters. He is the tenth child in a Hindu family and all the rest are saying "What good is it to be a Christian if this happens to you". His wife will be in a very bad position if he dies. As you know widows have a bad time here. She will be disowned by the Hindu family. No one will want to marry her as she has 3 daughters. Pray God will work through this situation to bring glory to His name."
Please say a prayer for Titus and his family. Pray that the healing hand of Christ would work upon him.
Going before the Throne. - Tiffany (Prodigal Daughter) has a post from a couple of weeks ago asking for prayer for a missionary who has experienced a tragedy.
Last week Greg, his wife Laura, Greg's mother, and their two children (ages 7 and 5) were at a border crossing when a truck without brakes rolled into the building. The two children were killed on impact as well as Greg's mother. Laura was severely injured. Greg has a crushed spirit. This is a couple that has given all that they have to the Lord, in addition to this loss, the couple has had two miscarriages in the last three years. God truly is carrying Greg through a deep valley right now.
Even though it was several weeks ago I'm certain Greg still needs the prayers of his brothers and sisters, so please say a prayer for him and remaining family.
They hate you because of me - Today is the eighth annual day of prayer for our Christian brothers and sisters facing persecution around the globe today.
Join me in prayer today.
My prayer today:
You are righteous and above all other gods. Thank you for the blessings which You have bestowed upon me. Thank you for sending Your Son, my Savior, so that I might know freedom from sin and shame.
You've placed me in a country, Lord, that has honored my freedom to worship you openly, but I know so many other brothers and sisters across the world are not so free. For them naming the name of Christ means inviting persecution and yet they to do not shy away from the Name above all names and instead cling all the more to Jesus.
Thank You for their witness. Thank You for their faith, Father.
Today, Father, my prayer for them is strength and peace. Grant to them the strength of Jesus as he walked this earth ministering and witnessing of Your plan for salvation. Send to them the peace which passes understanding so that in the midst of their trials they will know from Whom their strength comes.
May their witness shine as a city upon a hill, Father, so that men might be drawn to Christ and saved from darkness, sin, and the second death.
In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
Feel free to add your prayer to the comments section.
The Great Separation continues.
Rebecca at Rebecca Writes has a great post with a poem from Susan H. Peterson and a sermon from David Legge on the subject of the persecuted Church.
Pray for each other - I received a missions prayer request sent out from my denominational headquarters.
5 November 2004 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
A short while ago J. Solomon ([past] President of the Blessed Hope Fellowship conference in India) called to relate to us he and his wife, Ruth, were injured while going on his motorcycle. Solomon swerved to avoid a dog. He has some injury to fingers, but he reports Ruth is in x-ray and not moving. When we learn the extent of her injuries, we will share them with you, knowing you will pray for them.
So please pray for Ruth's healing. I will update this post when I receive more information.
